REEL Actress Rankings (as of 1/6/17)

  1. Emma Stone – Stone’s performance in La La Land was as classic as the film itself.  Her quick rise to superstardom due to her acting range and elegance make it hard to imagine her simple Superbad days ten years ago (yeah, its REALLY been ten years now).
  1.    Amy Adams – Adams is still riding the high waves of her two awesome performances in her latest two films, Arrival and Nocturnal Animals.  I know I am in the minority, but I think her dark performance in the latter was her best, despite getting the most attention for Arrival.
  1.     Viola Davis – Davis put on an acting clinic in Fences.  I am not sure if she will wind up winning all, or even most, of the plethora of awards she is nominated for from this role, but she certainly deserves to.
  1. Natalie Portman – Portman is always so pure and near perfect in all of her roles.  It’s hard to remember a role she has ever played where you questioned her dedication or skillset.  Jackie is no different.
  1.           Jennifer Lawrence – co-starring with Chris Pratt, Lawrence is stunning as always in Passengers.  If two people can propel a movie these days into the nine figure plateau of earnings off the strength of their names alone, it’s Pratt and Lawrence.  Lawrence may not have earned any award nominations this past year, but she certainly earned a few large paychecks.
